The St. Cloud State Football team earned their fourth win on the road this season, knocking off Minot State 30-23.

On what was a snowy and windy day in Minot, the Huskies did not allow the current weather conditions impact what ended in positive results on the field.

Adam Stage opened the game knocking through a pair of field goals, but the Beavers would respond after a field in the second quarter. A 56 yard passing play turned into a 10-6 lead for the Beavers at home in the second quarter.

Moments after the third made field goal of the half for Adam Stage,  interceptions continued to haunt Huskies quarterback Dwayne Lawhorn as Minot State’s defense would return a interception for a touchdown with 2:49 left in the quarter to take a 16-9 lead into the halftime break.

The Beavers took full control of the momentum headed into the 3rd quarter, as a St. Cloud State fumble led to a Beavers touchdown pushing the score to 23-9.

With everything against the Huskies, it seemed possibly out of reach for the Huskies to get a major road win late in the season. But they had other plans.

After MSU pushed their lead to 23-9, the Huskies offense came out firing as Dwayne Lawhorn found an open John Solberg for a 41 yard touchdown pass to make it 23-16. The touchdown gave the Huskies life headed into the fourth quarter.

It took a full team effort for a huge fourth quarter comeback for the Huskies. A 12 play 89 yard drive to open the quarter for St. Cloud State was rewarded with a Greg Lewis 15 yard touchdown run, knotting the game at 23.

It was not much longer until the Beavers gave the Huskies a chance to take the lead, and SCSU made them pay. A Minot State football on their own 24 gave the Huskies a prime opportunity to take the lead. From the MSU 24, the Huskies put together just four plays to take a 30-23 in dramatic fashion capped off by a Dwayne Lawhorn touchdown run.

The drama in this thriller did not stop there. Minot State would get the ball back, as St. Cloud State coughed up another fumble with 2:40 left in the fourth quarter while trying to run the clock out to a win. On the ensuing possession with a chance to tie or take the lead for Minot, Jake Bruner for St. Cloud state picked off a Kylar Sharp pass that would seal the game for St. Cloud State.

The Huskies move to a record of 7-3 on the 2018 season with the win over Minot and will round out the 2018 season battling Minnesota - State Moorhead this Saturday at 1pm in Moorhead.
