Archived: St. Cloud Man Arrested After June Assault

A St. Cloud man is in jail after he was discovered in St. Cloud weeks after assaulting and robbing an acquaintance.

St. Cloud Assistant Police Chief Jeff Oxton says that officers found 24-year-old suspect James Wilks in the 1300 block of 13th Street South on Wednesday. Wilks fled after officers tried to arrest him before being found hiding behind a residence by a St. Cloud Police K9 Unit.

As officers arrested Wilks, his mother and girlfriend arrived and physically interfered with the arrest. 56-year old Kathleen Wilks of St. Cloud and his 23-year old girlfriend Anastasia Accardo of St. Cloud were arrested as well for obstructing legal process. All three were sent to Stearns County Jail.

On June 29, a 23-year-old man was hit over the head with a stick or pipe and was robbed of personal property. The assailant was identified as Wilks shortly after.

The victim was taken to the hospital and was treated with non-life threatening injuries. The injuries were severe enough to increase charges to aggravated battery.
