Archived: Lieutenant Governor Tina Smith Plans St. Cloud Town Hall Meeting on Minnesota Care

Minnesota’s Lieutenant Governor is hosting a town hall meeting in St. Cloud Monday to review Minnesota Care.

Tina Smith, along with Human Services Commissioner Emily Piper will be discussing the proposal at the St. Cloud Technical and Community College. The plan allows citizens who buy their health care coverage on the individual market to buy into Minnesota Care.

The goal of the town hall is to review the proposal, listen to health care stories and discuss what can be done to improve access to affordable health care. The governor’s office believes 100,000 people may have more health care access and lower prices under their proposal.

The state legislature did not approve the plan in 2017, but the meeting is a method to gather information for a 2018 legislative effort.

The meeting begins at 9 a.m. in the Health Sciences Building at SCTCC.
