Archived: Escaped Horses Hit By Cars Near Eden Lake Township
Loose horses late Tuesday night were struck by cars and caused minor damage.
Stearns County Sheriff Don Gudmundson says a call was made about three horses near County Road 9 and 165th Street in Eden Lake Township. While deputies were on their way, two of the horses were struck by cars. 65-year-old Barbara Lorraine Nistler of Richmond had moderate damage to her car but had no injuries. The horse was examined is expected to recover.
16-year-old Alex John Foehrenbacher of Watkins had minimal damage to his car and no injuries. The horse suffered a broken leg and had to be put down by owners.
The owners took their horses from the roadways. The horses were able to get out from an unsecured gate.
