Two Somali men visiting the St. Cloud YMCA had deer carcasses placed on their cars on Friday night.

The St. Cloud Police Department says one of the victims walked out of the YMCA at approximately 9:40 p.m. and discovered both carcasses. The other victim was notified by the responding officer.

Both victims were Somali, so authorities considered whether that had been the reason behind the incident. Neither of them had seen anything suspicious or had any trouble with anyone beforehand.

In a following investigation, authorities were able to gain video evidence that linked a 62-year-old St. Cloud man and his 14-year-old son to the crime. The son was the one who placed the carcasses on the cars, while his father watched from their truck.

The suspects said in a taped statement that they needed to dispose of the carcasses and that they did not know the victims.

The incident report will be forwarded to the St. Cloud City Attorney.
